More information about 2025 Pacific Language Weeks available. Celebrating the richness of our 12 indigenous Pacific languages and fostering pride and connection across Aotearoa. This year marks a historic milestone with the inclusion of Bislama, Vanuatu’s national language, joining Rotuma, Samoa, Kiribati, Cook Islands Māori, Tonga, Papua New Guinea Pidgin, Tuvalu, Fiji, Niue, Tokelau, and Solomon Islands Pidgin.

Pacific languages are vital to cultural identity and well-being. Since Samoa’s inaugural Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa in 2007, these events have grown into nationwide movements supported by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, offering year-round learning opportunities and community-led activities.
