Bringing together the strengths of our community, language, and cultures with the Rising Hibiscus Pasifika Programme at Tauranga Girls’ College. This inspiring community initiative invites students to enjoy Breakfast, Wellbeing, Mentoring, and Inspiring Pacific Speakers each Wednesday morning. At the heart of this programme is an exclusive opportunity to unlock your potential. With the powerful mantra “Tā mātou kai”, we embrace the strength of the Pacific.

Inside the Rising Hibiscus Experience

The Rising Hibiscus Pasifika Programme (2026) is a dynamic programme held every Wednesday at 7:00AM. The programme has two distinct streams running on alternating weeks throughout Term 3. Key components include:

  • Breakfast & Wellbeing: Join us for a morning kai and wellness activities to energize the day.

  • Mentoring & Pacific Speakers: Receive personalized academic mentorship and hear from inspiring Pacific leaders.

📅 2026 Schedule Details:

  • General Session (All Welcome) – TGC Common Room: Open to all students on 29th July12th August26th August9th September, and 23rd September.

  • Year 11-13 Mentoring – Elena’s Room: Exclusive academic and leadership mentoring for senior students on 5th August19th August2nd September, and 16th September.

What to Expect

Experience the excitement of the Rising Hibiscus Pasifika Programme from the moment you arrive. Running every Wednesday at 7:00AM, here is what you can expect:

  • Arrival: Head to either the TGC Common Room (All Welcome sessions) or Elena’s Room (Year 11-13 Mentoring sessions).

  • Morning Kai & Cultural Activities: Enjoy a delicious breakfast together, while engaging in cultural activities with our Facilitators and Pacific community.

  • Mentoring & Workshops: Dive into guided academic mentoring sessions or listen to our inspiring Pacific speakers.

  • Leadership & Community: Connect with elders, past students, and peers in a supportive environment to help shape your future.

Where are the sessions held?

All-welcome sessions take place in the TGC Common Room on the dates listed in the schedule. The exclusive Year 11-13 Mentoring sessions take place in Elena’s Room. Please check the schedule to ensure you are at the correct venue each week.

What activities do we do in the mornings?

Students and teachers decide on cultural activities they want to do. For example, play volleyball, learn dances, Zumba, craft performance costumes.

Whether you are joining us for our All-Welcome sessions in the TGC Common Room (29th July, 12th Aug, 26th Aug, 9th Sept, 23rd Sept) or require the extra academic guidance at our Year 11-13 Mentoring sessions in Elena’s Room (5th Aug, 19th Aug, 2nd Sept, 16th Sept), this programme is more than just education, it’s about creating an engaging and uplifting environment that fosters joy, mentorship, and inspiration.
